The Economics Students Association has launched a new club on campus to promote the study of economics. The executives were sworn in at a ceremony at Wisconsin’s Main Campus in 13th April 2018, attended by the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Welcoming the initiative, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Obeng Mireku, said: “Economics is a very interesting and stimulating discipline. I would have loved to be a Professor of Economics, but for some reason I ended up as a Professor of Law. Many people avoid it because of its mathematical orientation; however it is a critical subject.”

In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn-in president of the Association, Vincent Apetorgbor, said: “The vision is clear – to foster unity among students of economics and to pool the intellectual capabilities of members in solving national and global economic problems through research and practice.”

He requested the unflinching support of Management, the Dean, the Association’s executive, and members and the entire student body to help boost interest in and understanding of the subject and in executing the activities of the Association.

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Emmanuel Acquah-Sam, said: “I urge you as economics students to explore the benefits of our subject. The subject is not difficult, but instead analytical. Every individual practices economics in every sphere of their lives. Economists rule the world.”
