Professor Kaku Sagary Nokoe

Professor K S Nokoe, the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Wisconsin International is a Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, and was prior to joining Wisconsin, Professor and past Pro Vice Chancellor (2005-2007) and Acting Vice Chancellor (2007-2010) of the University for Development Studies, Tamale Ghana. He was the Head of Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Agriculture in Nigeria (2002-2004).
Professor Nokoe had his PhD (Biometrics) from the University of British Columbia where he was University Scholar (1974-1976) and McMillan Bloedel Fellow in Mensuration (1973), and began his lecturing career at the University of Ibadan immediately after PhD graduation in 1976 at the age of 27 He had his basic secondary education in Ghana - at Axim/Apam Secondary and Nkwatia-Kwahu St Peter’s Secondary (Sixth Form). He has wide international experience. He had served as biometrician in national and international research centres, published extensively (over 120) in several peer-reviewed journals and has contributions in Wiley’s Encyclopedia of Environmentrics and Springer’s International Encyclopedia of Statistical Science. He has also supervised several students in Statistics, Statistical Ecology and Surveys, Quantitative Entomology, Mensuration, Biometrics and Statistical Computing among others at the Masters and Doctoral levels. He is an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute, Member of the International Association of Statistical Computing, Member of the International Biometric Society (IBS) and Founder of Sub-Saharan Africa Network (SUSAN) of IBS. He is the first recipient of the Rob Kempton Award of the International Biometric Society for \outstanding contribution to the development of biometry in developing countries".
Professor Nokoe has been involved in the design, implementation and analysis of large scale surveys and multi-location trials in Africa. He had led the Cross Research Support Team of econometricians, M&E specialists and statisticians of the FARA-SSA Challenge Program engaged in high-level econometric and impact analyses of the IAR4D (integrated agriculture research for development) concept. Prof Nokoe consults regularly for CTA (Netherlands) on Scientific Data Management courses in African-Caribbean-Pacific countries, and has visited several countries in the ACP regions in this regard. For his contribution to education and development of marginalized societies, he was honoured by the Nzema Maanle Council (Chiefs and People of Nzema, Western Region Ghana) with the highest award of the land – the Grand Order of Ankobra. Professor Nokoe is a Christian (has performed pilgrimage to Israel) and has six children – Andrew Kofi-Arko, Papa Sagari, Kingsley Kwaw, Amelema Kwaw, Priscilla Manyekyi Ama and Gabriella Daku-Adwoba.
